The Minecraft Virtual Library

The Greatest Virtual Library on minecraft

Advert

This is a Minecraft server / map that was made by a team of 24 from all around the world with the goal of giving information to those who live in countries without Freedom of the Press.

Each and every country has at least one book that has copied down blocked or important press about that country. There are five exhibition halls on five different countries that are notorious for their press censorship; Russia, Vietnam, Mexico, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia.[1]

This project is an attempt at loophole, as these countries have little Freedom of the Press, but Minecraft is allowed in some of these countries.

So the team at Blockworks was asked to make a gigantic library, ranging over a million blocks, and they did so. This will hopefully let residents in these countries see what their life looks like from the outside.

With a world map on the bottom of the library’s main section, this project is huge.

Every country is represented, with each and every country’s flag on the circular wall.

Articles and Journals can be uploaded directly to the Uncensored Library by journalists and reporters. This will be the future.

It’s quite strange that Minecraft, a 2009 game that is now more known for its aspect of doing what you can to survive, and making the huge world your own can be utilized to this extent.

I hope this inspires many more projects like this, that can change the world for the better.
